Diviners is an ongoing exploration of the material reaction between light-sensitive silver-gelatin photographic papers and the natural world. This method of cameraless printing is central to my practice, and these small-scale tests (which are used to gauge reactions and development times for larger prints) form an ongoing body of research. Made over the course of 5+ years, they mark tactile encounters with the landscape, while also indexing specific weather events and natural phenomena. The archive is most commonly presented as a deck to studio visitors, where it can be held, shuffled, and reconfigured to create intuitive associations across time and place. 4x5 inches each. Ongoing since 2017.
